A Little About Me

For those of you who know me personally, you know that I am a very passionate and outspoken young woman. I adore learning, and take the fact that one can never stop learning to heart each and every day. I am a young adult (with an old fashioned soul) who lives in Western Manitoba. I was a raised on a livestock farm and never had much to do with the grain farming side of things until pursing my honours diploma in Agribusiness. I am working in my field of study with my career of choice as an agronomist/agrologist. So that means you can find me in the field from pre-seed to post-harvest (with probably the worst farmers tan you can imagine), awkwardly crawling around digging in the dirt or walking through a crop.

I have an extreme soft spot when it comes to my livestock, some of which have become permanent residents on the farm. My pets include two potbellied pigs and a pygmy goat who we like to call the resident “guard dogs”. I owe it to my boyfriend, Alex, and his herd of cattle for turning me into a crazy cow lady (I seem to be a self-proclaimed “crazy lady” about a lot of things these days…just wait until I talk about goats and plants). Alex and I are establishing young farmers who are creating our roots in this very busy chapter of our lives. We both have big goals and dreams, and are working hard everyday to achieve them.

My favourite hobby is horseback riding, and my love for all things horses began at a very young age (and yes, I was that little girl who had to learn to ride on a slightly demonic and yet chubby pony). I also enjoy nature and exploring, my family farm includes a gorgeous quarter section of land in a river valley that I take full advantage of hunting and foraging off of. I have two very hyper pugs and a pitbull who are always ready to come alongside with me on my many adventures. I value my Metis and Scottish heritage, embracing cultural traditions that I can intertwine into my lifestyle. I love gardening and preserving, baking and cooking, and frankly just all things food…so prepare yourself for recipes galore!

I see the beauty within the little things in life and I am very excited to share my love of agriculture and country living with you!
